CT Scanner Campaign Goal Reached!
Black Gold Health Foundation, in support of health care services at Leduc Community Hospital, realizes the importance of providing for the increasing demands of our medical services and stay abreast of modern technologies.
April 15, 2015 the Foundation announced that it will take on a major campaign to raise the money required for a CT Scanner at Leduc Community Hospital. This campaign will be reaching out to the community to help raise $1.25 million to cover the purchase and installation of the machine. With this commitment in place, the CT Scanner was installed in the Leduc Community Hopsital and became operation in November 2015. The CT Scanner is completing an average of 250 scans per month. This piece of equipment has had a huge impact on the community of Leduc, both for the patients receiving the urgent care and diagnosis needed as well as for the Leduc receiving the economic boost of patients and families remaining locally. Families do not need to transport to another health centre, and the Hopsital is not needing to pay for transport and staff for the patient to receive the scan.
On December 8, 2017 it was announced at the Spirit of Giving Luncheon hosted by the Leduc Regional Chamber of Commerce that the $1.25M goal has been reached and the Campaign is now completed! L&T Mix Sand & Gravel Ltd. gave a great boost at the beginning with a $100,000 cheque, and an anonymous donation of $500,000 was received in December 2016! At this luncheon on December 8, 2017 the Lions Club of Leduc presented a cheque to the Black Gold Health Foundation for the remaining $200,000! The support and commitment from Leduc and community has been overwhelming in achieving this goal in under 3 years. A testament to the generosity and caring nature of those in our community.
